Nicolas Seiwald (FC Red Bull Salzburg):
…about winning the ÖFB Cup final and the controversial penalty situation for Ried when the score was 2-0 for Salzburg: “In the end we have to decide the game earlier, then you don’t talk about this situation anymore, but it was still the 3 :0 – in hindsight – deserved.”
…on the associated double win: “You have to be grateful and humble for that. Even if the double in Salzburg is always the goal, it cannot be taken for granted. But of course you can’t be satisfied and I want more.”
…about the celebrations afterwards: “First we toasted on the field, then we continued to celebrate in the dressing room and finally we continued to celebrate with the team in Salzburg. So we deserved the two training-free days and I personally need them to regenerate.”
…on the subject of motivation for the last three games, after the double that has already been fixed: “I think that everyone will be ready to play the three games and finish the season with nine points if possible. Everyone still wants to show themselves, play and win. Because it’s just fun to win games. No, we want to win every game and that’s how we go into the games.”
…about fellow player Zlatko Junuzovic: “For me, especially at the beginning, he was the most important contact person. I was always able to ask questions and he always had an answer. I am grateful that he helped me so much, also on the pitch. A man needs one like that.”
…on to Junuzovic: “He taught me, even when it comes to big opponents, that they are only footballers and that they can also do incredible things. It’s about staying calm and still playing your game.”
…about his personal achievements this season: “You couldn’t expect something like that. Of course it was a wish and a goal to become a regular player this season. But I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. And the fact that I’ll become a national player, we’ll get the double and almost everything went well is great and outstanding, but you can’t expect something like that.”
… about further potential: “I want to improve my strengths and there might even be a risk of scoring.”
…on his path from delivery to FC Red Bull Salzburg and when asked whether this path helped him: “I think that this path has certainly made it easier for me to know the way Red Bull plays and the philosophy got to know early on. I’m sure it helped me.”
…on to this path: “I hope that I can also be a role model for young players who are now coming to Liefering and want to make the leap to the professionals via this station.”
… when asked about his calm demeanor and his humility: “It might be one of my strengths, also on the pitch, that I am calm.”
…about new team boss Ralf Rangnick and the discussions as to whether he will now let Red Bull football play: “Of course I ask myself that too. He’s sure to make changes. You know his game philosophy and you know his game idea. Whether he implements them and how he implements them will be seen later in June. Will be interesting how it develops.”
… when asked about his future and whether he has an exit clause in his contract – which runs until 2024: “No, I don’t have it. I still have a contract until 2024 and I feel good about it. In Salzburg you have the best conditions and therefore: there is not much to improve there.”
Alfred Tatar (sky expert):
…on the ÖFB Cup title for Salzburg: “There was no big surprise from Rieder’s point of view because the ball fell on Salzburg’s side in the decisive moments of the game. The handball situation could have made it close again, but in the end Salzburg deservedly won. They simply cannot be bent in Austria.”
… when asked about his statements last year that Salzburg would not become champions under Jaissle: “Of course it was total nonsense. I couldn’t understand this coaching decision for other reasons, but I’m glad I was taught better.”
…on FC Red Bull Salzburg: “What we have done so outstandingly at this football club – you can see it clearly from the example of Nicolas Seiwald – there is a development philosophy that mainly comes from the youngsters. The individual strengths of each player are worked out. And with the professionals, the team WILL be developed above all.”
…on Nicolas Seiwald’s potential: “In terms of robustness, he can definitely get even stronger. There are still options. And in his position – he also discussed it himself – you should be good for six, seven, eight goals a year. He still has to go there. Then a great career is open to him.”
…on Ralf Rangnick’s team manager appointment: I hope that we’ll finally go to a World Cup. The EM is now grassroots football, half of the associations in Europe are already there. It’s no longer the crème de la crème. But only thirteen associations from Europe qualify for the World Cup. Being there is already a trademark and a goal that we finally have to achieve.”
…about Neo-LASK trainer Dietmar Kühbauer and his move to LASK: “I can understand that. Because I believe that in this case Mr. Gruber has the impression that Andi Wieland is dead and he is no longer able to inflate the team so that they fight with a knife between their teeth at the weekend. The Kühbauer will certainly pass that on to his players.”
