Narendra Modi meets Sweden’s Prime Minister in Copenhagen, reviews progress in bilateral partnership | India is flourishing
Copenhagen: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Magdalena Andersson, Sweden’s Prime Minister, alongside the second India-Nordic summit in Copenhagen as the two leaders reviewed the progress made in the bilateral partnership.
This was the first meeting between the two leaders.
“India and Sweden have long-standing close relationships based on shared values; strong business, investment and R & D links; and similar approaches to global peace, security and development. Innovation, technology, investment and R & D collaborations form the basis of this modern relationship. , “reads a statement from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MEA).
During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Sweden in 2018 on the occasion of the first India-Nordic summit, the two sides had adopted a comprehensive joint action plan and signed a joint innovation partnership.
In today’s meeting, the two leaders reviewed the progress made in our bilateral partnership.
They also expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the Lead IT initiative.
This was a joint global initiative between India and Sweden to set up a Leadership Group on Industry Transition (LeadIT) in September 2019 at the UN climate summit to help the world’s industries that emit the heaviest greenhouse gases (GHGs) against the low carbon economy. Its membership has now grown to 35 with 16 countries and 19 companies.
Both leaders also discussed the possibilities of deepening cooperation in areas such as innovation, climate technology, climate action, green hydrogen, space, defense, civil aviation, the Arctic, polar research, sustainable mining and trade and economic ties.
Discussions were also held on regional and global development.
