May full of cocktails! From Milan to Rome, from Genoa to Naples
It will be a May for everything… cocktails, with events scattered throughout Italy in the name of drinks, spirits, parties in bars, but also non-alcoholic products and cocktails. Which are one of the latest trends and that no one calls that anymore. It sounds ancient. Today it is called a mocktail, or zero alcohol. However, if you are over the age of 18 and are passionate about mixed drinks, spirits and the like, take note.

Milan opens the dance from Sunday 8 to Tuesday 10 May with Mixology Experience, a sort of bar show organized by Bartender.it with various events outside the salon (over 60 locations involved). The event of the world all the main companies in the world of beverages, with tastings, presentations of new products but also masterclasses and seminars. Several thematic itineraries: Aperitifs & Co Experience (bitters, bitters and vermouth; liqueurs, elixirs and fortified wines); Agave Experience (tequila and mezcal), Spirits Experience (great spirits with a focus on raw materials and territories); Juniper Experience (the world of gin), Sugarcane Experience (great meditation rums, mixing rums and cachaça); Malt & Gran Experience (whiskey and whiskey from around the world); Grappa Experience; Coffee Mixology (coffee and spirits in the world of mixing) and Beer Experience (beer is used as an ingredient for cocktails).
Among the guests, at the stand of Gin engine on Sunday there will be the radio and television host Federico Russo for an “aperitif with Federico Russo” and on Tuesday the chefs Davide Oldani and Pierluigi Pardo which will give rise to an “Eat and drink as you speak”, inspired by the format of their program “eat as you speak on air on Radio24.
Always in Lombard capitalafter a day of relaxation we will start again from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 May with the first edition of Polynesia and Pacific Festival, an exhibition dedicated to crafts, food and cocktails from the islands that have made the Tiki culture famous. To be clear, it’s time for poke, Zombie and Mai Tai! Among others, there will be the corner of the cocktail bar Milord of piazza Bernini.
Not enough: flair competitions are back. You know Tom Cruise in Cocktail? Here, the acrobatic bartending competitions are much more spectacular. After Jurassic Flair competition held in Turin on May 2nd and won by Roman Zapata, the spotlight is on Genoa where the Charm of the bump with 30 bartenders from all over the world. The appointment is from 9 pm for the final at the Luzzati Gardens, in the historic center. And if it rains, no problem: the race takes place in the archaeological part, indoors. A party will follow.
And again: at the end of the month there is the second edition of Show of the Bar Romaevent conceived by Andrea Fofi and Giuseppe Gallo – after two years of stoppage due to measures against the pandemic – back on stage at Palazzo dei Congressi on 30 and 31 May with over 20 off-salon appointments, hosted in cocktail bars, historic cafes, luxury hotels and unusual locations. The common thread of the events is the dissemination of the culture of responsible drinking and the promotion of spirits and companies outside the traditional circuits.
“Compared to the first edition, the number of stands equipped with a bar station has increased”, assures Andrea Fofi. Thus, for example, in addition to the Campari and Velier branded cocktails proposed already in the first edition, it will be possible to drink the drinks also with the products of Rinaldi 1957 made by Walter Gosso and Chiara Beretta and those with the references distributed by Pellegrini SpA, which will point to particular on the new Amaro Eroico.
Finally, again in May, 31, a Naples toast (also with cocktails) to the vernissage party of The wine and the city 2022, an event on stage from 6 to 22 that brings wine to museums, historic buildings, boutiques, artists’ ateliers. And that this year opens up to mixology for the first time.
