Lending: 15 new companies bring economic upswing
Business
The municipality of Lend (Pinzgau) is experiencing an economic boom. Within three years, 15 new companies have settled there. Existing companies have also built up. The main reason for this is probably the community’s commitment to business operations.
It is mainly small and individual companies that have settled in Lend in recent years. The geographical location of the site was particularly important for the companies: Lend is located between Pongau and Pinzgau and has good transport links to the Pinzgauer Straße (B311) and to the railway.
Interesting location between Pongau and Pinzgau
The support of the municipality is also helpful for business start-ups, according to the business community. Josef Strasser runs a carpentry shop with three employees. He had been looking for a new company location for several years, and in February 2022 he moved his carpentry shop to the former building yard.
For him, the location was crucial. “We are good due to the topographical location – we can move to the side valleys and look after our customers there. With the B311, we are in a very good position for our suppliers, because we get the goods within two to three days,” says carpenter Josef Strasser.
Existing companies are also expanding
The Pinzgau community is not only seeing growth in new companies, existing companies are also expanding their location in Lend. The Heinrichbau company in Lend has been operating in the community for more than 100 years. In recent years, the staff has been increased by a third, after the purchase of an existing commercial property is now being expanded.
Entrepreneurs: Municipality gets involved
The Salzburger Aluminum Group (SAG) is still a leading company in Lend. SAG is currently working on the development of tank technology for hydrogen vehicles. The commitment of the municipality should also be partly responsible for the economic upswing in the region.
“We advertise that we do some background work and we’ve written to it, we’ve shown the businesses that the community supports them. Word of mouth got around and fortunately we now have numerous new settlements. I’m very happy about that,” says Mayor Michaela Höfelsauer (SPÖ).
Local taxes up by a third
Due to the additional business operations and the expansion, the municipality is currently taking in municipal taxes by a third more. In the future, the municipality and companies in Lend want to focus primarily on the topic of sustainability.
