“The Squares of Flavors” are back in Verona
The great celebration of the food and wine tradition that takes place in Verona turns 20 and, after the extraordinary edition that took place in September 2021 due to Covid-19, “Le Piazze dei Sapori” return to animate the city in the first week of May, from 5 to 8, with a long weekend of events in piazza Bra and via Roma.
Over 50 Italian gastronomy companies involved, for an edition entirely dedicated to made in Italy. The exhibitors present, selected among the companies in the sector, will promote the best of their products in Piazza Bra through the traditional stalls, while via Roma, for the first year, becomes part of the event locations, hosting the tasting area.
The initiative is promoted by Confesercenti Verona with the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Italian National Tourism Organization ENIT, the Veneto Region and the Municipality and Province of Verona.
THE SQUARES OF FLAVORS – Twenty years of success, which saw 2,360,000 visitors, 1,606 companies involved, 1,000 students involved in the Teatro Ghiotto project, 750 taste workshops, 2 fashion shows, 700 musical and cultural shows, 19 projects developed to promote tourism, production, cultural.
2022 EDITION – In addition to the installations made in piazza Bra and via Roma, a special thematic area for the promotion of the territory, with the display of products and laboratories, will be created by the Coldiretti companies inside the Mercato Coperto at the Ex Macello in the Filippini district.
The participating farms will offer beer and wine workshops accompanied by local meats and cheeses, at 12 and 13 for beer and at 14 and 15 for wine.
In addition, a stand dedicated to Veronese wines and typical local restaurants has been added to promote “veronesity”. For the latter, an official section has also been included in the brochure of the event containing the indication of the restaurants that are awarded the Typical Restaurant of Verona plaque.
OTHER EVENTS – Thursday 5 May at 7.30 pm, at the Ristori Theater, “Venti portati di Gusto”, the new important cultural initiative wanted by Confesercenti Verona, to celebrate its twentieth anniversary and award the Guardian of Taste 2022, promoting young promises who will perform on stage with moments of music, singing, dancing, theater and juggling.
Friday 6 May at 5.30 pm at Liston12, with the partner La Feltrinelli, there will be the presentation of the book “Cucina Essenziale” by Francesca Giovannini, creator of The Bluebird Kitchen.
Saturday 7 May at 4 pm, award ceremony of the Guardiano del Gusto 2022.
Sunday 8 May the city will be invaded by Cosplay, the mascots of Prezzemolo, Tunk, Baldo and Pradabella, who will be available for visitors to take a picture and at 3 pm there will be the cutting of the cake to celebrate the twentieth anniversary.
The staff of the 800 Sorrisi Association will be present every day at the infopoint and will present the project shared with Confesercenti Verona in favor of children hosted by oncological pediatricians. The program of the twentieth edition was presented on Tuesday morning by the councilor for economic activities Nicolò Zavarise together with the president of Confesercenti Paolo Bissoli and the director and coordinator of the event Alessandro Torluccio. Present were the president of Amia Bruno Tacchella, the vice president of Coldiretti Franca Castellani and Silvia Franceschini de LaFeltrinelli, among the partners of the event.
