This planted European can by the sea, where a people live that neither governs nor allows itself to be governed, is the right place to park, far from prying eyes with the peace and ease of working at the practice of the activity.
Fame came from afar. From the times of the Second World War, when esplanades, results and luxury hotels were perfect for taking out precious treasures that came straight to warlords. At that time, the uranium business gave great impetus to the national economy, which we sold weight on conscience to the two opposing camps of the theater of war.
War for us is a business and can even be promissory. It is enough to continue without shame in the face to justify all cases that come to the public as ingenuity, distractions, good faith, compliance with rules, routines. And it’s no use arguing with complaints and denunciations. If it didn’t appear in the newspaper or on TV, no one saw or heard it.
Moscow uses this playground for spies like no one else. Not least because nobody here that someone in the Kremlin is interested in information that comes from Portugal. It’s the perfect setting. When things go wrong, those responsible for the activity, which is the same as saying: the results arrive and they don’t arrive, forget it and the spy finds another way to continue following. Icing on the cake: here is a party willing to collaborate, very used to these things underground and which is seen as a peaceful party and friend of democracy.
In Portugal, it was possible for a mayor of the capital to have escaped unscathed from providing critical data to the Russian embassy. As if that were not enough, another mayor, a few months later, finds it normal to invoke, once again, naivety and bureaucracy to get Russians to welcome the Ukrainians. The two have a reaction: they smile when they are alerted that the Putin regime is interested in the information and may use persecution on its enemies.
The Portuguese do not take themselves seriously nor do they take the country seriously. They use our small size in the concert of nations to devalue the consequences of what is happening here. Even when what is happening here is very serious and goes against all the rules of a Western democracy.
What happened (will you still be that in the Municipality of Setúbal it is a disgrace and does not need any inquiry for the investigated?) dissidents to the Russian regime.
The public statements of the Mayor of Setúbal about the case make us fear the worst. This representative of democracy thinks that someone did everything right, and unless you use our Russian friends to welcome and even shelter the Ukrainian refugees fleeing the terror that the Russians are distributing to prove in the lands. The Kremlin and Putin thank you and guarantee that they will continue to invest in Portugal. over here nothing happens!
