Smoke and flames in the middle of the night: a sauna in the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz caught fire on Saturday night. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly. The cause of the fire is being clarified. Unexpected property damage occurred.
When the emergency services arrived shortly before one o’clock, heavy smoke was coming out of the sauna, and shortly afterwards flames were also visible. “The local fire department brought the fire under control very quickly,” says Florian Schneider, spokesman for the cantonal police. Erasing took about 15 minutes.
The lonely sauna house Nera on the area of the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz caught fire. “The surrounding buildings were never in danger,” says Schneider. There were no people in the sauna. According to the St.Gallen canton police, the fire was discovered by the cleaning staff. An ambulance was also called, but no one was injured.
The material damage caused is still being clarified, but according to initial estimates it should amount to several thousand francs. The cause of the fire is being clarified by the forensic competence center of the St.Gallen canton police.
The sauna landscape of the Tamina Therme in the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz was redesigned last autumn for over two million Swiss francs.
