The move aims to enable the Scandinavian medical technology company to scale up its production for global customers and achieve production and logistical flexibility.
“Our plan is to start production for non-medical products in 2022 while working in parallel to increase for medical products from the end of 2022 and to accelerate further in 2023. It is important that we take time to properly plan and implement all relevant quality systems and certifications, says Patrik Axelsson, acting head of SHL Healthcare Bulgaria.
Based in the Stockholm region, SHL Healthcare manufactures products such as medical patient harnesses, pressure ulcer prevention mattresses, pumps and patient-handling goods for hospitals, nursing homes and home use. The company, which was founded in 1989 and employs about 4,800 people, already has a manufacturing facility in China.
