EBRD and Sweden finance waste infrastructure in Bosnia
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Sweden support Bosnia and Herzegovina’s efforts to upgrade its solid waste management infrastructure, the EBRD said.
An investment grant of EUR 2.5 million, extended by Sweden, will complement an EBRD loan of EUR 5 million, approved in 2019, for the construction of a regional landfill for solid waste in the canton of Tuzla.
When completed, the new landfill will serve three municipalities, Zivinice, Banovici and Kladanj, with a total population of around 95,000. It will help reduce water and soil pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, says the European Bank in A statement.
The construction of the new landfill, which is currently underway, is managed by the regional solid waste company Eko-Sep.
