Volker Wenner from the Verdi office in Cologne-Bonn-Leverkusen told TAG24 on request: “So far, employers have not shown themselves willing to compromise.”
In the run-up to the third round of negotiations in May, the union is therefore calling for further strikes and participation in rallies in North Rhine-Westphalia.

A spokeswoman for the city of Cologne said: “The 221 city daycare centers are also affected – the city of Cologne does not know to what extent this will be the case.” If in doubt, parents must prepare for emergency care.
In Cologne, the strikers start a demo at 10 a.m. on Hans-Böckler-Platz and Ottoplatz. “Both demo trains will meet for the subsequent rally at 11 a.m. on the Heumarkt,” Verdi said in a statement.
In the cities of Dortmund, Essen and Cologne, thousands of patrols are also expected to attend regional rallies, according to Verdi. They should put pressure on the negotiations.
According to Volker Wenner, there will be another warning strike on May 4th. And shortly before the actual round of negotiations in mid-May, another day of action is possible.
