Premiere of the “Art of Recruiting” in Salzburg
Numerous speakers from the HR sector and companies presented recipes for success against the shortage of employees at the “Art of Recruiting” event, which was held for the first time in Salzburg. […]
The “Art of Recruiting” event planned for 2020 could only take place last week due to the pandemic. The declared goal was to pass on the HR knowledge of top-class speakers to companies of all sizes, to network with each other and to convey measures that can be implemented. Around 170 visitors with employee responsibilities will meet live again for the first time for the debates, lectures and workshops in Salzburg. The tenor of the event: the much-mentioned current shortage of workers and skilled workers remains the greatest challenge for the domestic economy. The upcoming wave of retirements by the baby boomer generation is further exacerbating the situation. This forces companies in every industry to compete for the brightest minds on the job market.
Demands on employees are constantly increasing
Nevertheless, the question of how precarious the shortage of skilled workers really is is controversial. A clear “yes” came from Mike Glas, CEO of pixelart. He is convinced that companies are always looking for more and better applicants. It is only natural that there is a bottleneck in the applicant market. In addition, the demands on future employees are constantly increasing, which also fuels the shortage. The aim of the event was not to intensify the battle for talent, but to promote the art of recruiting and personnel marketing in your own company.
The first day was dominated by the overview of the current situation on the labor market, an outlook on future developments and the elaboration of the reasons for the shortage of skilled workers, especially in the digital areas.
High profile round table
One of the highlights of the day was the round table with Martin Kocher, Federal Minister for Labour, Family and Youth and the President of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce Peter Buchmüller, the presenter Karin Zauner from the Salzburger Nachrichten and the recruiters in the audience who answered questions. Topics such as location development, the education system and the removal of bureaucratic hurdles in recruiting were discussed here.
During the event, there was plenty of room in the HR Experts Lounge for HR managers to network and for personal contact with the speakers.
On day two, “The Three Seegers” from the agency for communication art started with your lecture “The Challenges – 3 Generations in the Digital Age”. On four stages, 26 speakers presented their solutions and, together with the participants, worked out ways of implementing them individually.
The broader range of workshop topics enabled all participants to fill any knowledge gaps with new possibilities and ways to change and to receive impulses for future recruiting, on- and offboarding processes.
Employer branding and addressing different generations were also discussed.
Information on the topics and the program can be found on the event’s own website http://www.art-of-recruiting.at see. Due to the great success of the “Art of Recruiting” concept instead of “War for Talents”, the organizer is planning the second edition planned for April 2023 in Salzburg.
