training
On Friday, April 29th, the first “Long Night of Apprenticeships” will take place in Tennengau, where everything revolves around vocational training. 40 companies from Abtenau to Puch offer young people and all other interested insights into various professions.
From laboratory technology and mechatronics to structural signs, foot care or gastronomy, you can find out more about the training offers with your boss directly on site and thus experience different possibilities in the region. With this innovative hurdles should be removed and young people should be easily connected with training companies.
More than 200 apprenticeships to choose from

Most of the trainees come from the “Commercial and Crafts” section with around 4,000 apprentices, followed by the “Commerce” section with around 1,300 apprentices. Girls in Salzburg prefer to learn retail, office clerk and hairdresser. The boys have an interest in electrical engineering, automotive technology and metal technology. The variety of apprenticeships in Salzburg is great. There are more than 200 different jobs to choose from.
Haslauer “Apprenticeship is top training”
Under the leadership of the state, the Alliance for Growth and Employment has already developed and implemented concrete measures to strengthen teaching. Partners here include the Chamber of Commerce, the Public Employment Service, the Federation of Industry and the Chamber of Labour. “For example, in-company training will be upgraded, learning support for apprentices, a dual academy for high school graduates will be developed, apprenticeships with a high school diploma will be expanded or the career check will be planned,” summarizes Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP).
Again growth in teaching in tourism
Although often there are currently 6.2 times more apprenticeship positions than there are applicants. It is becoming increasingly difficult for local companies to get young people excited about an apprenticeship. It has proven itself despite the pandemic. 2,308 young apprentices took this path in 2021. The beginners in Salzburg, especially in tourism, are clearly on the up again. The increase of four percent is above the Austrian average.
