Cracow. Concert. “Absence”. Picnic with songs by Ewa Demarczyk
“Carousel with madonnas”, “Groszki i Róża”, “Tomaszów”, “Czarne Anioły” “Grande Valse Brillante” are just a few songs from the repertoire of Ewa Demarczyk, which on May 1 at 6.00 p.m. will be performed on the Large Stage of the Słowacki Theater.
Ewa Demarczyk is one of the most characteristic characters and charismatic figures of the Polish scene, the legend of Piwnica pod Baranami. Her performances of works created in our collaboration with Zygmunt Konieczny and Andrzej Zarycki have gone down in the history of music. . She was valued for her eskassic, expressive and experienced interpretive ability.
On January 24, 1941, she graduated from high school in music, learning to play the piano. However, she had chosen acting at the PWST for her studies – she finished it, already being a star. In 1961, she made her debut at the Cyrulik student club, then – at Piwnica Pod Baranami, with which she worked until 1972 (formally until 1976). In 1963 a workshop at the festival in Opole, winning an award there. From 1986 she ran the Ewa Demarczyk Theater. She played her last concert in 1999. Then she disappeared from public life. She died on August 14, 2020. With her passing, the era is over.
