Alexander Djiku: Ghana and Strasbourg defender appears on Beşiktaş radar – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results
Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku has appeared on the transfer radar of Turkish giants Beşiktaş.
The 27-year-old is a target for several clubs in Europe after a standout performance for club and country.
Turkish outfit Besiktas are looking to sign the very talented Ghanaian centre-back this summer.
Besiktas have struggled at the back with Black Eagles manager Valerien Ismael looking to land the defender away from Strasbourg to boost their squad next season.
The media claim that Besiktas scouts saw the Ghana international at Strasbourg losing 1-0 to Lille at the weekend.
The glowing scouting reports have heightened Besiktas’ interest in the highly-rated centre-back.
Djiku, who had a breakthrough season in Lique 1, was also phenomenal for Ghana.
His defensive partnership with Leicester City’s Daniel Amartey proved crucial for Ghana as they qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar at the expense of regional rivals Nigeria.
The Ghanaian international is a hot commodity in Europe with a number of clubs lining up for his signature.
Apart from Besiktas, Djiku has become a transfer target for La Liga side Real Betis as well as French side Rennes.
He has played 28 Ligue 1 matches this season, scoring one goal.
Djiku’s contract expires in 2023, meaning any club interested will need to raise funds to complete a transfer.
The Ghanaian international has been at the heart of the Strasbourg defense for two seasons, since his arrival from Caen.
