“Beware of alarm bells. We need more Europe among the people”
The pro-Europeans breathe a sigh of relief but closed the game of the Elysée, it is analysis time. France is divided: ILe Pen’s far right is stronger than ever, and abstention has reached record numbers, especially among young people. And just the young Christian democratswho strongly support the idea of Europe and support the path of San Marino, while speaking of the victory of meaning, warn: “A electorate base in European countries – they warn – it is no longer reflected in the idea of Union and its values ”.
“There is a France split in maturitybetween extreme right and extreme left ”, points out the GDC President Lorenzo Bugli. “When it comes to polarization, there is a lack of understanding of the historical moments we are experiencing. There is a big question: how can we bring Europe and the citizens to the center of the debate in that great debate? We need more Europe among the citizens ”. The war in Ukraine does not help. There are those who speak of the crushing of the EU on NATO, disputed yesterday during the Liberation Day.
“Europe must be compact, but to be truly so it is necessary that those elements of reflection be brought into the midst of citizenship. Elements like NATObut also those – detected by us GDC – on the European army and on giving more power to the European parliament ”.
L’abstentionever so high in France since 1969, it is a risk that also San Marino runs? “Yes, and it is very high. When it is not possible to involve the population with the right tools, the right communication and transparency by giving initiatives in the decision-making choices of the country, there is a risk of abstention and polarization. We must make a great effort as a policy to be as precise as possible, giving information and bringing the debate to a level that is and with real elements, not slogans ”. Is there still a desire for Europe in San Marino? Bugli has no dubbing: “There is a lot of desire for Europe. However, it is necessary to understand how the country can interact with the European Union, and how to involve everyone in this process. Europe is not an enemy. It is a great opportunity. We must prepare as best we can, however be ready for what Europe requires. Great ability to play within the rules of transparency “.
