The risk of avalanches on the way up in several places in northern Norway
The case is being updated.
Lower temperatures with wind and snow showers are the reason why the risk of avalanches will increase from Wednesday, meteorologists warn Varsom.no.
The risk of avalanches is moderate to significant for the areas of Western Finnmark, North Troms, Lyngen and Tromsø.
– The possibility of some sun in the middle of the day can lead to some sun-triggered landslides. In the evening, winter returns with northwesterly winds and snow showers. This could lead to fresh forage snowflakes that are easy to release, especially high up in the mountains where there is also some snow from before that can be moved on, it says in the warning that applies to Lyngen.
There has been a significant risk of avalanches in several of these areas for a long time. On Monday, one person was injured when two people were taken by an avalanche on Sofiatinden in Lyngen.
