Elon Musk’s fortune exceeds the GDP of Portugal, New Zealand and Peru; see comparisons | Economy
If Elon Musk’s fortune were converted to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), it would become the 49th largest economy in the world – it would surpass countries like Portugal, New Zealand, Peru and Greece.
The new owner of Twitter, Musk is the richest man in the world. His fortune is estimated at $ 259 billion as of Monday (25), according to the ranking prepared by Bloomberg. Figures from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) show that Portugal’s GDP was US$ 250 billion last year, and New Zealand’s totaled US$ 247 billion. See the comparisons below:
The largest economies in the world, according to the IMF, are the United States ($22.9 trillion) and China (17.4 trillion). The total GDP of Brazil was estimated at US$ 1,6,6 last year, in the country in 13th place.
To buy on Twitter, Musk shelled out $44 billion. The same exercise shows that this amount would lead the social network to have the 94th largest GDP in the world, above Uganda (US$ 42.4 billion) and Bolivia (US$ 39.7 billion),

In practice, GDP and billionaire wealth measure different things.
Despite this difference, these numbers help to contextualize the data and show the size of the wealth of the new owner of Twitter.
GDP is a flow value – it estimates everything that has been produced in a country in the last year, not how much the economy as a whole is worth. Fortunes are stock values (the total amount that the person or company has or is worth).
