Councilors Nicolini and Giovagnoli to the Parliamentary Assembly, Montemaggi and Mularoni remotely
The San Marino Council Delegation to the Council of Europe, composed of the Councilors Marco Nicolini (Head of Delegation) and Gerardo Giovagnoli, will take part in the II session 2022 of the Parliamentary Assembly which will be held from 25 to 28 April in Strasbourg, together with the Councilors Marica Montemaggi and Mariella Mularoni who will follow the works remotely. The session will open with the intervention of the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Tiny Kox, following which the Assembly will decide on the request for an urgent discussion regarding the aggression of the Russian Federation. against Ukraine and the consequent violation of human rights. Of particular importance will be the day of Wednesday 27 April, during which the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella will address the Assembly to answer the questions of the parliamentarians, including the Councilor Marica Montemaggi and the Head of Delegation Marco Nicolini who will be among the first to speak on behalf of his political group. The Assembly will also be called upon to comment on the means to combat the exposure of children to pornographic content, the deinstitutionalization of persons with disabilities, discrimination based on social origin, the use of confiscated criminal assets and the safeguarding of democracy in Europe. . Topics on the agenda also include Georgia’s compliance with its obligations and commitments, the fight against excessive use of law enforcement by law enforcement and the Lisbon Treaty on strengthening of the strategic partnership between the Council of Europe and the European Union. The Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović and the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Italy Benedetto Della Vedova will speak during the Assembly.
