Sérgio Garcia wins Moto3 race at the Portuguese Grand Prix
Gass pilot, who took command, definitively, laps from the end of the race, concluded with 21 laps drawn to the Algarve with a time of 38,17,725 minutes
Spanish rider Sérgio Garcia (GasGas) won, this Sunday, the Moto3 race of the Portuguese Grand Prix of the Motorcycle World Championship, the fifth race of the season that takes place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA).
Sérgio Garcia finished with 21 laps along the track with a time of 38.17.725 minutes, leaving fellow countryman Jaume Masia (KTM) in second position, at 0.069 seconds, with Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) in third position, at 0.110 seconds.
With this result, Garcia rose to the top of the lowest category of the World Championship, with 83 points, one more than the previous leader, the Italian Dennis Foggia (Leopard Honda), who was only eighth.
Foggia had initially been ninth, but benefited from the penalty given to Brazilian Diogo Moreira (MT KTM) for exceeding the limits of the track, which dropped him from egg to 10th.
The Turkish Denis Oncu (KTM), who left pole position, was fourth in the presentation, after having taken the lead twice. But the big one was the same Sérgio Garcia, who in the initial phase overtook and came to have more than a second of advantage over the accessories.
However, a group of five riders would eventually form at the head of the race, which also included Spaniard Izan Guevara (GasGas), with constant changes of positions in the last third of the race.
Garcia would assume the definitive command two laps from the end, crossing the finish line in first position, ending up with the celebrations already falling, when reaching the parc ferme. The Spanish Ana Carrasco (Boe KTM) closed the field, she is the only woman to compete in this category.
From out the Spaniards Daniel Holgado (KTM Ajo) and Ivan Ortola (Angeluss KTM), victims of fall. The round will take place next Sunday, in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
