Scotland women, Canada, Denmark and Sweden men start strong at World Seniors
After six games in the senior WC, clear leaders have appeared in one of the two women’s groups and two of the three men’s groups.
In Group A for women, Scotland beat Ireland 10-2 on Sunday afternoon to enjoy a second win and become the undefeated leaders of the group.
Behind them are Denmark – which has only played once so far – the Czech Republic, Ireland and Sweden on a win each.
At the same time, Latvia, Lithuania and the United States share the lead in Group B, thanks to Latvia’s 10-9 victory over Switzerland and Lithuania’s 9-7 victory over Finland. Earlier, the Americans had started with an 11-4 win over England.
In the men’s championship, the USA beat Australia 6-5 on Sunday afternoon, with a steal of two at the eighth end and another single steal at the extra end. They joined Canada on two wins and no losses in the top of Group A.
In Group B, Sweden beat England 10-3 on Sunday afternoon to lead the group, undefeated with two wins.
Behind them, five teams – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Norway and Switzerland – share second place after a win and a loss.
In men’s group C, Denmark’s two Saturday wins, against Nigeria and Latvia, hold them at the top of the rankings.
