Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi has been linked with a summer transfer for some time. Some top clubs are interested in the German international, and Borussia Dortmund, who have long been considered favorites to transfer the 20-year-old attacker, are said to have the best cards.
Sports director Christoph Freund has now confirmed the negotiations with the current second in the German Bundesliga before the championship game against Wiener Austria “Heaven”: “There’s nothing to report yet, nothing fixed yet. We’re in talks with Dortmund, they’re very interesting. Karim wouldn’t be averse either. We’ll see what the next few days and weeks bring.”

The sticking point in the negotiations should continue to be the transfer fee, on which the two clubs have not yet agreed. Most recently, 38 million euros were rumored as a transfer amount. According to information from “Sky”, BVB is to transfer 30 million euros to Salzburg as a base fee for Adeyemi, who still has a contract until summer 2024. “Karim Adeyemi still has two years of contract and that’s why a fee is due. And there are simply negotiations and talks about this fee,” Freund confirmed that no agreement could be reached yet.
Friend harbors hopes of whereabouts
Adeyemi, who moved to Salzburg in the summer of 2018 and made his breakthrough in the Mozartstadt professional team through the cooperation club FC Liefering, scored 30 goals and 20 assists in 89 competitive games for the Austrian series champions and scored 16 goals in 26 games in the current Bundesliga season. In the Champions League he scored three times in eight games and also provided two more assists. In September, the 20-year-old made his debut for the German national team, for which he then made three appearances.
Although a transfer in the summer is becoming more and more likely, Salzburg’s sporting director has not yet given up hope that the youngster will stay: “It would be a great situation if he were to play in the Champions League with us for the next six months. But he can imagine taking the next step.”
