Pecco Bagnaia made a remarkable return to the Portuguese GP held this afternoon at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider yesterday detected a bad fall in qualifying with a serious shoulder injury.
After being authorized by the Federation Award doctors to participate in the Grand this morning, Bagnaia took from the last position on the grid. Pecco was able to manage to make a remarkable comeback to take up a heated battle with Pol Espargaro. Despite everything, Bagnaia scored points for the general classification, rising above the place, 38 important points from leader Quartararo.
Pecco Bagnaia: “Our objective today is to finish in eighth place, and to finish it was. It wasn’t easy, but my team and Clínica Mobile did an excellent job, putting me in a position to compete. I tried to stay calm at first, but it wasn’t easy. Then, happy pace, I couldn’t find my time to find the incredible time, even though we had little to test in the dry. I am satisfied with the result, and now I will try to recover and recover as much as possible before Jerez”.
Ducati retains the lead in the manufacturers’ standings, 36 points ahead of KTM, thanks to Johann Zarco’s second place in the GP with Pramac Racing Team’s Ducati Desmosedici.
