Britain will be colder than Sweden this week when Russian cold sweeps the country
The UK is expected to face the coldest entry in May in 25 years as a cold snap that could drop overnight to as low as -5C across the country.
The sun reports that it will be colder than Sweden thanks to the imminent arrival of a 1,000 km wide “Russian chill” that will hit these beaches and make the warm days of Easter a distant memory.
The British generally enjoyed a warm and welcoming Easter weekend, with many parts of the country basking in the sunlight and even considering getting the grills out.
Now, however, the advice will be to end the heat into May, as the cold weather that has so far been kept in check will be unleashed, reminding us all that it is not really summer yet.
A particularly large high-pressure area extending from Scandinavia to Greenland will retain it #dry across most of the UK in the coming week

According to Daily Expressa split jet stream will direct cold winds across the North Sea and into the UK, causing a disappointing temperature turnaround after many parts of the UK had nicer times.
There have been warnings for keen gardeners who might have hoped to take advantage of the warm weather and sunlight that their plants may struggle to survive the cold.
It can also be bad news for farmers if the Arctic cold puts certain areas under persistent cold after the recent warm weather.
The more fragile plants will need to be protected, otherwise their early optimism may disappear from the cold weather that comes this week.
Frost can be an important part of the morning landscape when we enter May, especially in the countryside, although few rain showers are forecast as high pressure keeps the sky clear.
Dry, sunny and cold is the forecast for late April and early May, although some isolated snowfall is unlikely in all but the highest parts of the UK and anything that falls will probably not be very long.
It’s a sudden departure given the recent hot weather, which Daily mirror reports made parts of the UK warmer than the Algarve over the weekend.
Going from warmer than the Algarve to colder than Sweden in just a few days is probably a shock to many, so it’s probably best to enjoy the finer weather while it lasts.
