Piton Malta Supports REPLAST efforts
Piton Malta has officially announced its support for REPLAST. REPLAST, a pilot project aimed at incentivizing a plastic waste collection and recycling scheme in St. Lucia that began in 2019, continues to be supported and operational through the immense support of Heineken Saint Lucia Ltd. and its brands.
Two weeks after introducing new and convenient PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) packaging for Piton Malta, the brand has gone further by committing itself to supporting the island’s long-term plastic recycling efforts. continuous REPLAST.
Category Manager for Piton Malta Ms Fern Wilson- Jean commented on the announcement saying “When we introduced our new packaging, we were aware of what the environmental impact could be and with widespread concern among consumers. Therefore, as a key stakeholder in REPLAST we have been actively engaged with their team to come up with the best solution for the recyclability of this type of bottle. We are pleased to announce that dark or amber bottles will now be collected at REPLAST Collection Points (RCP) in the north and south of the island. ”
With effect from May 2022, Piton Malta consumers among other consumers will now be able to return PET bottles in RCPs.
