GENOA – A small house with a baby changing table inside in an elderly center.
It is the baby pit stop, the new service available to mothers and babies opened thanks to the Levante Town Hall in La Rotonda di Quintosuggestive meeting point overlooking the sea a stone’s throw from the gardens of via Giannelli which after two years of covid is reborn with dinners, winter trials, grandparents’ feast and Burraco matches.
“The new service is a shelter for mothers who have small children who will come to the gardens and the sea” explains the secretary of the Elderly Center Anna Degl’Innocenti.
Quinto is one of the most beautiful elderly centers thanks to its suggestive view of the sea: until the 70s it was a municipal bathhouse, then it fell a little out of favor. So the local pensioners rolled up their sleeves and put it back in order, also thanks to the availability of the then mayor of Genoa Fulvio Cerofolini.
The president of the Rotonda Antonio Atzei recalls the difficulties of the two years of covid, but also the great hope of the reopening: “Before Covid I project three hundred members, who came not only from Quinto and its surroundings but from all over Genoa and even outside Liguria, today we are at 150, we hope to return to normal as soon as possible and buy back all of our old partners. “
