City of Salzburg – Salzburg bike spring welcomed 7,000 visitors
Finally cycling spring again. This is the motto of the cycling festival this weekend at Domplatz and Residenzplatz in the middle of Salzburg’s old town. A colorful program was again offered to over 7,000 visitors this year. In spring-like April weather – from rain to sunshine – around 1,000 bicycles were sold at the AK bike fair and the participating dealers. Numerous children and families tried their hand at the large mobile pump track and the AUVA skill course. Many interested parties also found themselves in the city’s information tents, where employees of Municipal Departments 5 (Urban Planning) and 6 (Construction) provided information on the subject of cycling.
The Graz band “FBY – Freak Bike Youngsters” provided a nice end to the event – they delighted the audience on their cargo bike with their colorful music mix of reggae, folk and tecno.
“I looked into many beaming visitors. After a break of more than two years, the joy of the Salzburg cycling spring was palpable again. Without our partners, above all the Salzburg Chamber of Labor, the resumption of the Salzburg cycling spring would not have been so successful. I would like to warmly introduce myself.” Peter Weiss, cycling coordinator of the city of Salzburg, draws a satisfied conclusion.
