The exhibition ‘God is mother’ at the Chiesa della Spina in Pisa from 23 April to 3 May 2022 Events in Pisa
The splendid Church of the Spina in Pisa once again opens its doors to host the exhibition ‘God is Mother’ from Gianfranco Meggiato, a cure of Riccardo FerrucciAnd Roberto Milani of the Casa d’Arte San Lorenzo, organizer of the exhibition. The opening is at 5.00 pm on Saturday 23 April.
I’m 11 unpublished works, and made specifically for this appointment, a precious approach to make known the work of the Venetian sculptor. These new works by Meggiato convey a message of peace. The goal is to symbolically go further, seeking to overcome divisions, as we are all human beings, we are all cells of the same organism, we are all unique. ‘God is Mother’ he immediately refers to religious transcendence inherent in the sculptures of Gianfranco Meggiato. According to quantum physics, the ‘mother’ of the whole universe is made up of vibrating subatomic micro particles called strings. This is where the idea of the sculpture that gives the exhibition its title was born. The latter is egg-shaped, which has always been a symbol of birth, of life; an egg that is built through the union of many oscillating and multiform rings. Inside the work there are three spheres that make up the essence of the human being: his rational, instinctive and soul part.
Gianfranco Meggiato was born on August 26, 1963 in Venice, where he attended the State Institute of Art, studying sculpture in stone, bronze, wood and ceramics. An internationally renowned artist who can boast important fairs and exhibitions in Italy and around the world, participation in several editions of the Venice Biennale, as well as the implementation of large installations dealing with scientific and social issues. Last in chronological order the great solo exhibition at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, centered on quantum physics, and the installation in Prato for the Pecci museum dedicated to the innocent victims of the mafia.
