City of Salzburg – On the way: Panorama Museum / World Heritage Center and new festival for youth culture
For this purpose, the building owned by SIG – formerly the Baroque Museum – will be renovated for the time being and adapted according to an existing architectural project study with a room and functional program. The centerpiece of the exhibition area will be the Sattler panorama. In the World Heritage Center area – not least with state-of-the-art digital technology and in cooperation with the Old Town & World Heritage team of the planning department and the UNESCO Chair at the University of Salzburg – the focus will be on communicating and informing the world heritage to different target groups.
The total cost estimate for the structural adaptation is just under 4.6 million euros. The city share of 2,683,000 euros is planned in the medium-term financial plan 2023 – 2027. Also around 317,000 euros in construction costs for accessibility measures. A further 750,000 euros have been budgeted for the exhibition facilities in the Orangery. The opening of the “Orangerie Salzburg – Panorama Museum / World Heritage Center” is planned for mid-2025.
The decision to support the new youth culture festival FIFTY-TWENTY with a total of 80,000 euros, which the association of the same name is organizing for the first time in July 2022, was also unanimous. Live concerts, clubbing, cross-genre events and young art actions should take place on different stages, locations and squares in the districts, using public spaces as well as houses of culture. Most of the offers should be free of charge.
Also discussed and decided:
