TAbellenführer Salzburg and Sturm Graz both left the field as winners in the Bundesliga on Easter Sunday. Salzburg won 2-1 at Vienna Austria and are still twelve points ahead of Graz, who in turn beat Rapid 2-1 at home. The green-whites are third in the championship group, one point ahead of Austria, but already eight behind Sturm. Austria Klagenfurt won the Carinthian Derby in Wolfsberg 2-1 and is fifth.
The “Bulls” were initially prevented from securing the championship title early due to Sturm’s simultaneous victory against Rapid, but they don’t seem to be able to stop them anymore. Jukic equalized Salzburg’s half-time lead through Adamu (52′) in the 65th minute with a penalty, but in the 78th minute Sucic made the decision in front of almost 9,700 spectators.
Sturm are still twelve points behind the leaders, Jantscher (25th) and Höjlund (61st) brought the more efficient hosts 2-0 ahead in the well-attended Merkur Arena with 15,000 spectators, Druijf only scored the goal in added time. Thus, the Hütteldorfer already have eight points on the second-placed Styrians and are just one point ahead of Austria in third place.
In the Carinthian Derby, at the end of the 27th round, the “Red Lantern” was handed over directly to the master group. The 2-1 away win in Lavanttal means Austria’s Klagenfurt is in fifth place, the defeated provincial competitor WAC is now sixth, one point behind. It was the fifth bankruptcy in a row for Wolfsberger. Timossi Andersson (3rd) and Jaritz (17th) scored the goals for the two-time lead of the promoted team, one minute before the 1:2 Liendl scored to equalize in front of 4,650 spectators.
