Three attempts in the first half give Malta a comfortable victory over Cyprus

Malta’s national rugby team wins the FIRA-AER 1 South Conference again when it beat Cyprus at Tony Bezzina Stadium.
Playing in difficult wind conditions, the Maltese struggled to get started in the opening stages as they struggled to break down a solid Cypriot defense.
But when they found themselves 3-0 down, after a Cypriot penalty, the home team suddenly clicked into the gear and managed to score three unanswered tries through Jethro Zammit Randich (2) and Robert Holloway to took full command of the match.
Cyprus tried to hit back after the break but the Maltese stood firm to close their commitments in style as they ensured that they finished second in the group, after Croatia.
Malta pressed on the accelerator from the very beginning as they put a lot of pressure on the Cypriot defense who resorted to every means to try to keep the home team away.
Chris Dudman was given a chance to change things around.
