“The Masked Singer”: These celebs were gorilla and starfish
In the semi-finals of the sixth season of “The Masked Singer” (always on Saturdays, from 8:15 p.m. live on ProSieben and on Joyn), two celebrities stepped out of their costumes. The moment the cases fall is preceded by some guessing fun. The established advice team around Ruth Moschner (46) and Rea Garvey (48) was supported by musician Nico Santos (29) on Saturday evening. These celebs unmasked on Saturday night.
Six semi-finalists were left, three of them competed against each other at the first appearance to determine finalist number one: The disco ball started with a rocking version of “Moulin Rouge”. Garvey would like it if Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (41) wore a disco ball costume, Moschner named singer Annett Louisan (45) as an option, and Santos threw singer LaFee (31) into the room as a possibility. Either way: The ProSieben viewers voted the disco ball straight into the final.
After the expressive appearance of the thorn devil, who performed “Dance With Somebody” by Mando Diao, Moschner suspected that there should be an actor under the costume, her favorite: Hannes Jaenicke (62). Garvey, on the other hand, said he would take a southern German accent with the Dornteufel, but then called the comedian, musician and Hamburger Olli Dittrich (65) a favorite of the Dornteufel. Santos, on the other hand, wavered between the actors Christoph Waltz (65) and Uwe Ochsenknecht (65).
At the end of the first round, the zebra came on stage and sang “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus. Moschner despaired when guessing: “The zebra sounded completely different again!” Santos’ assumptions Maite Kelly (42) and Barbara Schöneberger (48) comment on the zebra with a “nope”. Garvey’s idea, on the other hand, that it could be the actress Nora Tschirner (40), leaves the zebra uncommented – a hint?
Classics by Liza Minelli and the Backstreet Boys
The ork opened the second round of three with the song “Mein Herr” by Liza Minelli (76). Moschner suspected the moderator Michelle Hunziker (45) or the Danish model Brigitte Nielsen (58) behind the female voice. Santos had no idea, even talking to the orc in Spanish didn’t get him any further. Garvey, on the other hand, believed it could be Sibel Kekilli (41). The viewers will only find out in the finale, because the ProSieben viewers voted the ork directly into the finale.
The gorilla then performed “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys. Moschner could imagine both the professional soccer player Rúrik Gislason (34) and the actor Heiner Lauterbach (69). On the other hand, due to the great dance performance, Santos said it could be Detlef D! Soost (51) stuck in a gorilla costume. Garvey also thought the gorilla was a great dancer, but the more he moved, the more he moved, the tones landed “left and right” – his tip: Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (38).
The starfish concluded the first round with the song “Starlight” by Muse. Garvey had no idea at all, but considered the starfish performance on Saturday evening to be the most successful of the season so far. Santos hears a “soul voice” that could belong to the influencer Bianca Claßen (29). Moschner considers the actresses Andrea Sawatzki (59) or Esther Schweins (51) possible, moderator Matthias Opdenhövel (51) also brings the viewer idea Katja Riemann (58) into conversation.
This quartet is in the final
Four costume candidates also remained, of which viewers voted against the gorilla. For the first time on Saturday evening it was said: mask off! Under the hairy hood was Rúrik Gíslason, who was the number one tip not only for Ruth Moschner but also for the viewers. “Of course I’m not a singer, but I’ve learned so much,” the footballer summarized the experience on “The Masked Singer” and promises: “I’ll definitely continue singing.”
Afterwards, the thorn devil performed “Hold Me Now” by leading singer Johnny Logan (67), the starfish performed “Don’t Rain On My Parade” by Barbra Streisand (79), the zebra delivered with “Greatest Love Of All” by Whitney Houston (1963-2012) the last performance of the evening. The starfish was able to get the fewest votes of the trio from the audience. The disco ball, the orc, the zebra and the thorny devil are in the final on Saturday, April 23, 2022. At the end of the semi-finals, it had to be clarified who was under the starfish costume: The Bremen “Tatort” commissioner Jasna Fritzi Bauer (33): “I’m glad I was kicked out this week and not last, because this week I was tried really hard again.”
