Portugal. Country of “accelerations” or inappropriate speed limits?
Portugal speed up the radars in recent times leads us to question: will it be a country of “speed up” that needs to be disciplined or a country where speed limits are violated and it becomes increasingly difficult to move around without entering?
On the one hand, the figures from the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR) are close to the accident rate in recent years, which did not exist.
Portuguese drivers continue to have difficulties in complying with speed limits and, although accidents do not always occur, many of the accidents committed in cases of damage or graves continue to be attributed to speeding.

However, you don’t even need to look at the data to realize that in Portugal you drive fast — just get on the road — or at least with some lack of attention to speed limits.
Try driving on an avenue, highway, national road or any other road within this compliance or imposed speed limit. In doing so, you will quickly find yourself harassed by lights glued to the back of your neck as if to «push you».
The problem is not just the “accelerates”
That said, it is still reductive. When we drive according to the speed limits, we quickly realize that yes, there are “accelerations”, but we also come across inappropriate limits.
Does anyone think that, in the middle of Monday, in Lisbon, after 8 km after Estádio da Luz and we started the climb towards IC 19, suddenly going from a speed limit of 50 km/h to 50 km/h in a lane with three lanes and heavy traffic, even though you know it’s a “black spot”?
But there is more. Quantities and how many national roads there are also kilometer limits that exist at 50 visibility points, but not only for a gateway in visibility locations, but also on the way out to the gateway. because there are some scattered houses with broken access to a gate?
Would it be less safe to drive a reasonable and also 70 km/h controllers?
Do not defend the absence of speed controls, even to avoid excesses, but it is not adopting extraordinarily reduced limits that will prevent them from happening.

How to fight excesses?
As I see it, there are several ways to combat speeding. One of them, of course, involves inspection. However, this check has to be done for the purpose of deterrence, and not with characteristic and hidden vehicles equipped with a radar.
If we want to «educate what we should do, then think about the way in which radars have been installed and, above all, are a good example of how well they have been done» domain.
That said, nothing was lost in reviewing speed limits in some places, adjusting them to road conditions and also… common sense.
The inappropriate speed limits that will be easily exceeded by drivers will be useless, even for the sake of safety and automatic preservation. In some cases it seems to be more dangerous to comply with the imposed limit than to go a little above that same limit.
It even leads me to question whether this same speed limit will only have placement and only to do with the topic of road safety.
