The new coach at Fortuna Köln should meet this profile
Regionalliga West: Fortuna Cologne needs a new coach for the new season, sports director Matthias Mink has named the requirement profile. He also spoke about the squad planning for the coming season.
Mathias Mink has only recently joined sports director Fortune Cologne and is immediately faced with some groundbreaking decisions for the regional lists. Above all, of course, when it comes to the question of the coach for the coming season, because Alexander end will leave the club in the summer. “It’s a pity that no consensus was found,” said Mink in an interview with the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger. “There weren’t enough intersections. And if it doesn’t fit 100 percent, you should avoid making too many compromises. But that’s the way business is.”

The lack of consensus may also be about squad planning for the coming season. The new coach has to accept that “the financial means are limited,” as Mink explained. The club should first look at their own club to see if there are any players who can develop there. “We cannot play the most expensive and best player – we have to act intelligently and economically.”
“Hope we can keep a large part of the squad”
These have to adapt to the new coaches. “He should have experience in the regional league and have already expanded young players. He should be able to transport these issues in terms of emotionality and develop an identification with the club. That’s what the Südstadt is all about,” Mink explains the profile.
Of the current players in the squad, only seven have a contract for the coming season, and the contract of Kai Försterling soon automatically renew when it has reached a certain number of bets. “We will have a lot of talks over the next few days and hope that we can keep a large part of the squad,” said Mink.

It is to be expected that some players would only extend to better salaries – with the squad budget remaining about the same. Not everyone will be able to stay either, so the squad will be filled with one or the other “transitional player”, as Mink calls them.
