17 euro. This is the price to be paid in Marseille in the event of non-payment for on-street parking.
In Marseille, a city rarely appreciated for its public transport offer, many city dwellers are struggling to give up the car. However, the whole city center is paying and subject to time-limited parking.
But in this case, can you park for free in Marseille without fear of going through the FPS box (Post-parking package)? The answer is yes, but under two conditions: stay away from the boroughs included… and don’t be in a hurry. Because the rare pearl is deserved.
In the hypercentre, parking is limited to 2h30
In Marseille, parking in the city center is paid and limited in time. According to residential zones numbered from 1 to 27, you will only have the right to park for 4h40, and even 2h30 in the hypercentre… Unless you have a resident card.
For two hours of parking, count between 3 and 4 euros. Suffice to say that at this price, it is better not to fall asleep too long in the same place.
On the edge of occupied districts
The first solution to find free places is to leave the districts concerned. In order not to be mistaken, you might as well designate yourself the map provided by SAGSthe company in charge of parking in Marseille.
For example, if you wish to establish yourself around Longchamp, you must look on the side of the streets behind the park, at the level of the Les Chartreux metro station.
On the Boulevard Sakakini side, parking will be paid at the intersection with Boulevard Chave, but free beyond.
Southern districts and outlying districts
At the entrance to the southern districts, flee the streets north of Avenue de la Corse, which are toll-free, and rush into the winding streets of Endoume.
Lastly, outside the city centre, almost all of the boroughs with free on-street parking (of the 9th at 16th boroughs).
For transport users, relay car parks
For holders of an RTM season ticket, there is a second free solution: relay car parks.
The list is transcribed on the site of the metropolitan transport authority.
These car parks are located near metro stations and interchanges. There are 16 of them, including two car parks, La Fourragère and Sainte Marguerite, which are closed.
