Easter, Archbishop Benotto delivers eggs to Ukrainian children: ” Hope for peace ”
Pisa, 14 April 2022 – “An Easter egg does not change anyone’s life but is a sign of closeness and hope to continue to believe in peace for, especially for children and for the victims of all conflicts”. Has been the Archbishop of Pisa in person this morning (Thursday 14 April 2022) in the courtyard of the Archbishop’s Palace to deliver Easter chocolate eggs to the children of Ukrainian families followed by the diocesan Caritas of Pisa and the apostolic exarchate for Ukrainian Catholics of the Byzantine rite residing in Italy, a a real diocese which covers the whole national territory and which also has a parish in Pisa. “You belong to the family and certainly not from now on because of this dramatic conflict – he said Monsignor Benotto addressed to the many children and parents who took part in the initiative -: for 13 years your community has lived among us, celebrating in the church of San Pietro in Vinculis ”. Then a thought for the little ones, “peace especially for them – underlined the archbishop -: children need to have points of reference to grow with a mentality of peace”.
More than fifty Easter eggs were delivered by the diocesan Caritas for the occasion. You were also given to don Roberto Buratti, parish priest of Ripa and Strettoia (Pietrasanta), the Versilian parish of the diocese of Pisa which for a few weeks has opened its doors to welcome four Ukrainian families, 12 people in all, half of whom children. “Today’s – concluded the director of Caritas Don Emanuele Morelli – is a sign of sharing that is part of the path of accompaniment and support for many families who fled the war, which sees us engaged since the first days of the conflict and which will continue in the next few months, unfortunately I fear for a not short period “.
