Putzleinsdorfer author writes a family portrait over three generations
PUTZLEINSDORF/INNSBRUCK. “We’ll talk about Carl tomorrow” is the name of the new novel by Judith W. Taschler, in which the writer, who grew up in Putzleinsdorf, tells a family story spanning three generations in the Mühlviertel.
Today the author lives in Innsbruck, but the Mühlviertel, where she has her roots, plays an important role in the books by Judith W. Taschler. So also in the new novel: The main setting is an old farm in Putzleinsdorf. Here Taschler spreads out the life of the Brugger family: over three generations, she lets the readers feel the emotional world of the individual more often, feel their concerns and wishes, and see their place in the family structure from their own perspective. At the end there are the questions of how past destinies shape, which secrets are better left hidden and what remains of happiness.
The author also found inspiration for this in her own family history. She spent her childhood with a foster family in Putzleinsdorf with six siblings, many animals and a lot of books before moving to Innsbruck at the age of 25.
