The current French president, Emmanuel Macron, was the candidate for presidents in France most voted by the French community in Portugal, winning 38.52% of the votes, according to information published this Tuesday by the French Embassy in Lisbon.
According to official data, the second candidate with the most votes was Eric Zemmour, representative of the radical right-wing party A Reconquista, for whom 18.43% of French people residing in Portugal voted.
In France’s total results, Zemmour ranked among the most voted, quite a long way from the top three, having registered 7.07% of the votes, according to the French Interior Ministry.
The second most voted candidate in France, Marine Le Pen, who represents the extreme right of the União Nacional party, was, in Portugal, in fourth position, with 10.04% of the votes.
In France, Marine Le Pen will compete with the current French president, of the Em March party, in the second round of the presidential elections, scheduled for the 24th of March.
