Fursac creates a line of clothing suitable for musicians
The Philharmonie de Paris has awarded Maison Fursac the creation of the costumes for the musicians of the Orchester de Paris. A first for the men’s ready-to-wear brand whose creative director, Gauthier Borsarello, who created this range, is himself a former bassist of the Orchester de Paris and the brother-in-law of Gautier Capuçon. .

For the 1before times, on Wednesday April 20, on the occasion of a concert conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen in the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez of the Philharmonie de Paris (Pavane for a deceased Infanta by Maurice Ravel, The Wonderful Mandarin of Béla Bartók and the fantastic symphony by Hector Berlioz), the 67 musicians of the Orchester de Paris will wear new outfits specially created by the men’s ready-to-wear house Fursac (ex Monsieur de Fursac) for them. Since 2006 they were “dressed” by Jean-Louis Scherrer.

This new line consists of tuxedos (wool and cotton), white shirts and silk belts. Worn without a tie so as not to hinder the breathing of the winds, the shirts are closed with a fabric-covered button so as not to hit against the body of the violins and violas. Sleeve lengths are adapted to the movements of the musicians, and cufflinks, which could fray against the cases of certain instruments, are prohibited. The belts are lined with an elastic so as not to compress the breath of those playing a wind instrument.
Gauthier Borsarello professional musician then fashion designer
A specific line of clothing, adapted to the practice of instruments on stage, created by the creative director of Fursac, Gauthier Borsarello. A young 33-year-old designer who knows what he’s talking about since he himself was a double bass player with the Orchester de Paris. Son of musicians, after having started with the cello with his sister Delphine, wife of Gautier Capuçon, he turned to the double bass which he studied at the Paris Conservatory (CNSMD), before joining the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra then the Capitole de Toulouse and the Orchester de Paris. The beginning of an eclectic career which will then lead him to the art market before to co-found the magazine The labelto create a structure specialized in vintage fashion then, in 2021, to be hired by Fursac to lead the creation of the brand.
