“We are working on a new satellite. Its preliminary design has been developed, now it is, let’s say so, its equipment. We are discussing funding issues,” said the head of the National Academy of Sciences. By his definition, this topic came up to a significant extent in a video conversation with Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozi and will be discussed again in a personal meeting during the visit. “We worked out a number of issues, the nuances remained. I think the head of our state at the meeting will confirm the creation of a new satellite, funding and launch time,” said Vladimir Gusakov.
According to him, the new Belarusian-Russian spacecraft for remote sensing of the Earth will have a resolution of 0.35 m, which makes it a supersatellite. “This is a world achievement. He noted that Belarus is actively cooperating with the Russian state corporation Roscosmos, initiating a number of major projects that implement a number of programs of the Union of States in the field of space, a domestic spacecraft, which has been operating in space since its launch in 2012. As reported, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will pay an explicit visit to the Far Eastern regions of Russia. On April 12, a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled. On Cosmonautics Day, the leaders of the two countries will visit the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region together, in anticipation of the expected participation of Belarusian specialists. The heads of state get acquainted with the progress of the construction of the launch space complex, communicate with the pilot-cosmonauts and leave the cosmodrome.
At the presidential cosmodrome, in a one-on-one format, topical issues of the development of bilateral relations, joint measures to counter sanctions pressure from the collective West, circumstances in the field of application and the world, and events in Ukraine will be discussed.
