‘Spring Concert 2022’ at the Verdi Theater in Pisa on April 27, 2022 Events in Pisa
With the ‘Spring Concert 2022 ‘ IOrchestra of the University of Pisa inaugurates the tenth year of its concert activity, after two years of suspension due to the pandemic. The concert, the ideal closing of the initiatives of the Day of Solidarity, will be held Wednesday 27 April at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa.
The program provides for the execution of the ‘Symphony n. 5 in C minor op. 67 ‘by Ludwig van Beethoven, which is part of the Beethoven celebrations of 2020, also postponed due to the pandemic, and more included in the teaching program of the university orchestra, which includes the study of all nine symphonies of the German composer. It was completely unimaginable until a few weeks ago that the attack of the symphony, which as many know recalls the dark days of the Second World War, when it was used as the opening of the Italian broadcasts of ‘Radio Londra’, resound again in a Europe torn apart again by a dramatic conflict.
The theme of resistance to oppression is also central to Verdi’s work ‘Sicilian Vespers’from which two passages from the ballet ‘The four seasons’ are taken, while a first performance piece, composed by the conductor of the Orchestra, Manfred Giampietro, and released is called ‘War / Peace’ also echoes the theme of war, but with an openness of hope, which fits in well with the spirit of the ‘Day of Solidarity’ 2022.
