Six new riot police officers sworn in – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – One riot police officer and five riot police officers were sworn in by Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni on Monday. Police chief Jules Hoch also took part in the swearing-in ceremony.
The six new members of the riot police were sworn in on Monday in the Fürst Johannes Saal in the government building. According to the broadcast, Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni thanked the newly sworn riot police officers for their willingness to work for security in Liechtenstein: “The part-time commitment of citizens to security in our country cannot be valued highly enough will become”. Finally, Chief of Police Hoch also acknowledged the importance of the riot police as a security support unit for the state police.
Important support for the professional police officers
With the riot police, the State Police has maintained a unit of militia police officers for 85 years who carry out their police service as a part-time job. The riot police are used primarily in uniformed shift work and in security services. In particular, the labour-intensive order and security service – for example at football games or on national holidays – requires sufficient human resources from the state police. The riot police are the indispensable personnel reserve of the state police.
The path of the candidate for the riot police led to a good eight-month security police training, which they completed – in addition to their regular job – with the state police.
