Rainy Tuesday in Portugal, will the sun return on Holy Thursday?
Holy week the weather will be usual news and this time it is usually the exception. Since the beginning of the climatological spring (March 1) there have been “parades” of rain storms, intrusions of dust from the Sahara and air masses of very different character, symptoms of the typical dynamism of the atmosphere in this season of the year.
Depression Evelyn conditions the weather at the start of Easter Week
Since midnight on Monday, a very active cold front, associated with the Evelyn Depression, affecting the entire country, leaving rain, sometimes heavy and persistent, especially until noon. It advanced rapidly across the country, from west to east and from north to south, however, the itineraries changed to a regime of showers, alternating with cloudy periods and clear. The wind, quite mild, was blowing moderate to strong from the southwest, both in the western coastal strip and in the highlands.
Already tomorrow, tuesday the 12thstill because of a new and small front associated with the depression Evelyn, the dose of instability will repeatalthough in a much less intense way. YOU showers will, in general, be weak and intermittent, spreading irregularly over mainland Portugal. After the front passes, the cold will arrive, which will lower temperatures on Tuesday, something that will be more noticeable in the interior of the country, where the maximum will generally fluctuate between 10ºC and 15ºC.
On Wednesday the depression Evelyn will have passed into history, but there is a riskeven if reduced, of drizzle on the northern coast of Cabo Carvoeiroin cities like Harbor, aveiro or Viana do Castelo. The big ones will rise, on that day, they will return to, especially the highs. From Maundy Thursday, time “promises a revolution”meteorologically speaking. Why?

Holy Thursday, the 14th, will be a stable and calm journey in the north of the country. There is some cloudiness, sometimes dense, on the coast north of Cabo Carvoeiro and west of the Condensation Barrier, but in the rest of the country periods of cloudy skies or clear skies were predicted, with clear temperatures increasing. As the forecast for this day will be very maximum, thermally speaking. A maximum of 18 °C is expected in the Harbor22°C in Lisbon and 23°C in Faro and the wind will blow weak from the northwest.

On Easter Sunday, the scenario will be very similar, and, again, there will be another rise in temperatures.. In many Portuguese cities, such as Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Évora and BejaThermometers are expected to sign highs equal to or lower than 30ºC!
And in the Azores and Madeira?
Azores and Wood there will be a different weather situation. Both archipelagos should register mild temperatures during Holy Week, but while in Azores one is expected cloudier weatherwith moderate to strong wind, and some showers, in Madeira the situation will be more stable with cloudy periods and good open.
