San Marino, the project ‘At school with young Ukrainians’ has started, involving a foreign student involved
The “At school with young Ukrainians” project, the welcome and inclusion initiative of the State Secretariat for Education and the Education Department for young Ukrainians who have arrived in San Marino in recent weeks, has become operational.
We moved by stage: the first, which will end with the end of school, saw the Education Department create a database of arrivals in the area, thanks also to the collaboration with the Secretariat of State for Foreign Affairs. At the same time, a call was opened to volunteer teachers and linguistic mediators, which met with great participation.
Through the database created, the children and young people hosted in the area were asked to fill in a form, in order to obtain fundamental information on the training needs of each one. The Education Department has thus succeeded in constructing differentiated models according to age and level of education.
The second stage of this path will be established during the summer and will give children and teenagers the opportunity to register and attend the summer centers, public and private, organized in the area. This will be essential to add that playful offer that every young person needs. The third stage, which will start in September, will instead be the most difficult to prefigure: much will depend on how the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will evolve. The Education Department will monitor every evolution in this sense, so as not to be caught unprepared.
In the first instance it was possible to come the transport service of the AA reach SS will be mobilized to solve the needs related to travel to the school complexes. The global training project also included the supply of tablets and desks for all those children or teenagers who already take lessons in DAD.
The children and young people that the “At school with young Ukrainians” project help in their training are about one involved. Twenty-five of these attend kindergartens, equally distributed throughout the territory. The choice, according to the manager Francesco Giacomini, was not to tread too much on the linguistic difference, having the children languages as guaranteed by the game in order to subvert this difference. The reception was really positive and, especially in the first days, they will be supported by their parents and carers to facilitate their insertion.
On the other hand, 35 children are in elementary schools in the area: various welcoming and insertion initiatives will be aimed at them, through laboratory and artistic activities. There will also be basic teaching of the Italian language, as directed by the manager Arianna Scarpellini.
The Middle School will welcome just under 30 children. Three days of activities a week have been planned for them, to get to know their peers and learn the Italian language. Afternoon activities will also follow organized together with the Sports Federations, the Music Institute and the whole extracurricular world.
As regards the Upper Secondary School, 18 requests were received for participation in the activities which will mainly consist of an Italian course that will lead the students to integrate mainly in every area of society. The linguistic tool for social integration will be made available to them and will integrate perfectly with the DAD they are carrying out with the sending schools.
Finally, the University of the Republic of San Marino will allow students who have requested it to participate as auditors in the courses provided. The Musical Institute, through a group of volunteers specialized in teaching, will organize music workshops for all ages.
Andrea Belluzzi (Secretary of State for Education, Culture and University): “The effort and commitment of the school world must make the country proud and proud of the show of solidarity we are giving at a critical moment for everyone. The San Marino school is once again demonstrating its ability to respond in an exemplary manner by giving to emergencies.
Laura Gobbi (Director of the Education Department): “The children were composed in the school complexes between yesterday and today, it was a beautiful lesson for everyone. I thank all the teachers who are working, together with the volunteers and linguistic mediators, for the seriousness and passion they are putting into it. “
