Profits: AK demands redistribution of profits
politics
The Salzburg Chamber of Labor demands that the winner of the crisis should be asked to pay so that the extreme inflation of 67 percent for people with occasional income can be alleviated. The EU and the European Central Bank specify the ideal value of two percent. The reality is miles away.
Michael Schmidt, an economist at the Salzburg Chamber of Labour, demands that companies that have been through the crisis in the last two years should now also help if they charge costs. This applies to lockdowns and the energy crisis: “In the case of energy companies and mineral oil companies, we know that the structure generates very high profits. You simply have to siphon them off from the state and leave these profits to clean up the crisis.”
Do some corporations rake in money?
Other experts tend to criticize the governments, which themselves would benefit from the crisis through the very high taxation of fuel and energy. Money would now pour into the tax coffers of politicians in large quantities without being returned to the population on a large scale.
AK against savings packages
In any case, the Salzburg Chamber of Labor is against new austerity packages that would end up on the backs of the population. You would meet those on lower incomes again – another additional burden. Inflation is already unbearable for many people because they have to spend large parts of their income on rent, groceries and heating.
