Covid-19. Portugal donated 804,100 vaccines to South Sudan – Observer
The Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this Wednesday the arrival in South Sudan of 804,100 vaccines against the Covid-19 disease, donated by Portugal.
In the announcement, made on the social network Twitter, the ministry explains that the donation was made through the Covax systemcreated in an attempt to prevent rich countries from monopolizing access to vaccines against Covid-19.

“Coordination of work is essential to ensure the success of this freedom in Africa and in the world”, concludes the ministry’s message.
without total, Portugal already makes more than seven million vaccines against Covid-19of which half was delivered to Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) and Timor-Leste, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to the PALOP and Timor-Leste, Portugal donated vaccines against the covid-19 disease in African, Latin American or Middle Eastern or Asian countries.

The Covax system is co-led by the World Health Organization, Cepi (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) and the Global Alliance for Vaccines (Gavi), chaired by José Manuel Durão Barroso.
