Sweden launch kit that describes how to beat them
Sweden has made a bold statement with its launch of the Euro 2022 kit by including a complete instruction guide that describes how to beat them.
The Olympic silver medalists are one of the favorites for the tournament on their way into this summer’s festivities in England, and have kicked off the thinking games when the clock ticks down until the championships start.
Sweden will wear a classic yellow and blue adidas suit for the tournament, with the label written by the team’s match analyst Anders Eriksson.
The label is 34 pages long and has the title ‘How to stop Sweden’. It each contains a page about the team’s attacking and defensive strengths, plus 31 pages about the individual players on the national side, with tips on how to play against them.
“As a tribute to Sweden as one of the world’s most open and transparent countries, we are launching the women’s national team’s new national team jersey with a guide for our opponents,” wrote Sweden’s official Twitter account. “The guide tells us how to play, how to win and how to play against ourselves to have a chance.”
The guide recommends opponents to force left-back Jonna Andersson next to or back towards her own goal to prevent her from driving forward and delivering posts, while it strongly advises against letting Stina Blackstenius get the ball in the penalty area due to her efficiency in front of goal. There are also detailed passing maps, shot maps and dribble charts for each player.
“In the analysis, we reveal exactly how we win, how we play and how the opposing team – perhaps – has a chance to stop us,” said Arsenal striker Blackstenius to Sweden’s official national team website after the launch of the clothes. “Our team is better than ever, and we are entering the euro with gravel and confidence.”
“The digital analysis of the team and the individual players is a tip to the opponents,” added analyst Eriksson, the creator of the guide. “Now they can simply buy the football shirt to have a chance to challenge them in the UEFA Women’s Euro.”
The 2022 European Championships take place in England this summer, starting at Old Trafford on 6 July and ending at Wembley on 31 July.
