Women’s D1: attached to Paris FC, PSG has undoubtedly let the title fly away
The heroines of Bayern Munich were tired. Four days after their qualification for the semi-finals of the Champions League, the girls of PSG ran out of juice during the derby against a very good team from Paris FC who confirmed their success this season (0-0). This draw has serious consequences for PSG as Lyon won (2-0) at Guingamp. Now five points behind, the title of champion of France probably flew away this Sunday afternoon at the Charléty stadium for the players of Didier Ollé-Nicolle.
What you must remember
Paris FC had started very strong, setting the pace for entry. On a failed back pass, Barbora Votikova hooks Mathilde Bourdieu in the area and is logically penalized with a penalty (3rd). But the Czech goalkeeper of PSG redeems herself by diverting the attempt, not very well drawn, from Daphne Corboz (3rd). This is the third missed penalty this season for the PFC midfielder after the one in Saint-Étienne and during the series of penalties against Fleury in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. If Paris FC then continues to move forward, PSG gradually increases in intensity, recovering a lot of balls and obtaining several corners. But the defense of the PFC is the image of these beautiful returns of Anaïg Butel in the feet of Kadidiatou Diani (28th, 34th). Mathilde Bourdieu, named one of D1 Arkema’s three best players in March, failed to reward her team’s very good first period by unscrewing her shot (36th).
Returning from the locker room, Kheira Hamraoui, hit in the thigh is injured by Aminata Diallo. Mathilde Bourdieu is still in evidence by taking speed from the defense of PSG but she is too short against Votikova (49th). The PSG multiplies the inaccuracies and still does not find solutions. It is even the PFC which is still just as dangerous. Votikova makes a rescue in extremis (75th). The PSG goalkeeper then won her duel against Coumba Sow (87th). It was the biggest chance of the match. Author of a great collective and defensive performance, Paris FC can even harbor regrets with this draw which nevertheless allows it to take a new step towards qualification for the Champions League.
Player: Barbora Votikova
The Czech PSG goalkeeper has put an end to a very big disappointment to her team, which has often purred. She was decisive on many occasions, preserving the draw by stopping in particular the penalty from Corboz (3rd) at the start of the match and winning her face-to-face against Sow (87th).
The number: 1
It is the first time since Paris FC absorbed Juvisy in 2017 that he has managed to take a point from PSG in the league.
The reactions
Sandrine Soubeyrand (coach of Paris FC): “It’s a successful collective performance. Even if we had situations, I have no regrets. If we had taken PSG in a normal week, maybe it would have been more complicated. We were strong, rigorous in the placement, the replacement while respecting our game plan. It reflected the evolution and progress of this team. I try to get the most out of my players. This group took individually and collectively. The Champions League is getting closer but nothing is certain yet. We will savor this point but get back to work quickly. »
Didier Ollé-Nicolle (Paris SG coach): “The team was playing its 6th game in 23 days. There was extra time on Wednesday and qualifying which ate up a lot of energy and adrenaline. We couldn’t play with all our weapons, we had some absentees. It means a lot to us. We knew that facing Paris FC would not be easy. Despite everything, the team made a serious match. On a ue 3-4 situations at half an hour of play. We did not put them. Then, fatigue was felt throughout the game. We’ll see for the title… There are 4 games left. Lyon will come to us. They can get snagged. We still have great challenges with the championship, the final of the Coupe de France and the half of the Champions League against Lyon. »
