San Marino Green in Rome by President Mattarella
After planting at Podere Lesignano in the Republic of San Marino on March 27, another seedling descending from the persimmon that survived the Nagasaki atomic bomb will be planted in the summer estate of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella in Castelporziano (Rome ).
The protagonists of the initiative are the Nagasaki-Brescia Kaki Tree For Europe association and a delegation of the San Marino Green Festival which will also bring an art print of its Sustainable Archives as a gift to the President.
The ceremony will take place in a solemn form on the morning of Monday 4 April in the gardens of the presidential residence of Castelporziano, in the presence of the representative of the Japanese Embassy in Italy, the Councilor Mrs. Tokuko Nabeshima and a delegation from the municipalities of Brescia and Castagneto.
“The delivery of this gift, symbol of rhythm – recalls Gabriele Geminiani, creator of the San Marino Green Festivale together with Stefano Valentin of the ‘Ortiperlapace’ project – falls at a particularly tragic moment for humanity. After two years of grueling pandemic and the manifestation of the effects of climate change, today under the eyes of even the most skeptical, the war that has flared up in Ukraine and the strong tensions generated on the European and world political chessboard are a real threat to the use of nuclear weapons . In this sense, the ‘daughter’ plan of the Nagasaki atomic catastrophe acts as a deterrent to the progress of this madness, which could endanger the life of the entire planet ”.
