Principezinho arrives in Lisbon with music, joy and video-mapping
The musical “O Principezinho” is on stage at Teatro Maria Matos, in Lisbon, a show adapted from the original story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The narrative is familiar to everyone, from children to grandparents, and tells of “a little boy with golden hair and a pilot lost in the desert”. A fable about love, friendship and friendship.
“It’s a show that, despite being for children, tells everyone, even adults.” Who says it is João Duarte Costa. The director and director of the play believes that the show is for everyone “because it is light and captivating for kids, in terms of music and visual effects, and interesting for adults, who have childhood recordings of the narrative”. “The jewel of the spectacle”, and also of the original text itself, “are the various possible interpretations” of what is said.
The musical has already passed through Portugal in 2018, also under the production of Universal Music Portugal, returning now with the promise that each exhibition is special. “The goal was to keep the piece every year, but the pandemic came and changed the plans.” João Duarte Costa points out that there are many spectators watching for the time, but there are also those who come to repeat, “because they liked the show that the first one a few years ago that they wanted to see again”. And the magic doesn’t stop with the traditional story. The play is filled with music, happy songs, 3D virtual characters and videomapping visual effects, a mixture that promises to convey “the audience into the fantastic world of ‘The Little Prince’”.
This version of the song is an original show produced by two creators, says the director, adding that, in the play, the piece is kept faithful by Associação Exupé, “which considers it to be the author’s original”. There are drawings of Exupéry in videomapping and the figures corresponding to the original. The musical has been sold out. “Contrary to what was expected, there is a large adhesion, the public has a large audience.”
