“In the game with Portugal, the Ghanaians had bags of money in the locker room”
O The 2022 World Cup draw placed Portugal in the same group as the Africans from Ghana, who had already been installed in the 2014 World Cup group stage. A draw that has already generated controversy in the African country.
The former coach, worried about Kweria Appiah, who guided the black eagles at the 2014 World Cup, recorded the game with the Portuguese in Brazil, which the team from the corners won 2-1, to explain that his players only had the money, which turned them off from the match.
“In the 2014 World Cup game against Portugal, the Ghanaian players had bags of money in the dressing room and were not focused on the game,” Kweria Appiah told Ghanaian radio Starr FM, an accusation that has already received a response from Asamoah Gyan, captain and main figure of that team that year: “Yes, he had satellites in our bags. It is always necessary to find to blame”, he shot.

It is certain that in the days before the match with Portugal, the Ghanaian players threatened that they would not enter the field against the Portuguese team if the promised presence bonus of US$100,000 was not paid.
To avoid this situation, a member of the Government of Nana traveled to Brazil for the promotion of three athletes. At the time, an image was even shared on social media showing defender John Boye (who scored in his own goal against Portugal) kissing a wad of banknotes, at the hotel where the team was present.
